Point-of-sale materials, or POSM, can include shelf strips, wobblers, posters and promotional display units. Deployment is complete only when the agreed material reaches the right outlet and its placement is verified; dispatch from storage is a different milestone.
Build an allocation list by outlet
Match each store to material type, size, quantity, installation date and placement instructions. Confirm space and retailer approval before dispatch. Identify whether the team needs tools, assembly instructions or a store contact. Different outlet formats may require different display sizes.
Track each movement of materials
Record quantities received into storage, allocated, dispatched, received at the outlet and remaining. Keep damaged or missing items separate from installed quantities. Label packs clearly enough that the field team can check an outlet’s allocation without opening every package on the route.
Verify installation, not just delivery
Use status labels that distinguish delivered, installed, partly installed and unable to install. Capture photographs showing the material and its position in store. If approval, space or fixtures prevent installation, document the reason and assign a follow-up owner rather than reporting the delivery as completed display execution.
Plan the end of the campaign
Agree whether materials will be removed, returned, reused or disposed of under the applicable instructions. Reconcile outstanding quantities and unresolved installations. This closes the inventory record and avoids leaving outdated promotions on display after the campaign period. OSAM can review the allocation, locations and evidence requirements as part of a POSM brief.
